Hi all, Our motion detection systems are mainly used to record meteors, although other atmospheric phenomena such as sprites are most welcome; cosmic ray hits, electronic blips, birds, 'planes, spiders and cats are not! The UK national news is reporting that a magnitude 4.2 earthquake shook Kent at 01:52 UTC this morning. (The British Geological Survey lists the origin time as 01:52:18.7 UTC, Ramsgate, Kent). Events as vigorous as this should be sufficient to trigger false captures on our meteor cameras. I suggest that we monitor the national news for significant earthquake events, check if the shaking triggered any of our motion detection systems, then submit our report(s) to the British Geological Survey www.bgs.ac.uk or the Geological Survey of Ireland www.gsi.ieOur accurate timings and locations could be of use to them. Clear skies, Alex.
