I have recently bought a Watec 902 H2 Ultimate (CCIR) for recording meteors. I'm now trying to source an auto-iris super wide angled lens to go with it. Can anyone help me clarify a couple of questions I have about using auto iris lenses with this camera?
1 - Can you Video drive iris; DC drive iris; or either with this camera? 2 - Will I risk doing any damage to the camera (or lens) if I have the plug wired up incorrectly? (Don't worry, I promise I won't hold you liable if it ends up causing a problem)
Thanks

Hi Mike, I've had problems opening the DC Drive lens (Computar 8mm f0.8) iris with my cameras and therefore resorted to driving them independant of the camera (for meteor work you'd want the iris to be fully open anyway) though I believe Alex hasn't had such problems and has plugged his 3.8mm lens into the side of his camera. I recall reading somewhere that the earlier Watec 902H models didn't support DC Drive lenses but that later ones do - being an "Ultimate" version, I suspect that your camera would drive a DC iris lens. Not sure about "video drive iris" lenses. As for wiring, details (and the rationale for my approach) are covered in the first couple of pages of www.nemetode.org/Papers/NEMETODE%20Overview%20WGN%20June%202013.pdfHope this helps William
